The cauliflower has a small head on it about the size of a fist!

There is also a small broccoli head!!

The transplanted asparagus has grown very tall. We can't eat any of it for another few months.

The asparagus has sprouted through the ground, and is growing quite well!

Caleb worked on installing a better rain-water collection system.

Some of the water will go into this small(er) 55 gallon barrel, while the rest will go into a much larger 200-250 gallon barrel.

Tomatoes are started! Hopefully they will survive long enough to stay inside while the weather get warm (consistently!). Stay warm with this weird winter weather. Today it’s quite nice, but tomorrow the sleet and snow comes yet again!

Spring Is Coming!!

The Spring-time itch has come to this suburban homestead. Seeds are starting indoors, the onions are in the ground, and there’s much more work to be done! The past couple of days the weather has been gorgeous, in the 70′s, and the sun is shining beautifully. We have even had our windows open, and were able to hang clothing out on the line to dry naturally.

Spring-time is coming, and we’re getting ready! Stay tuned as we update you as to our success of growing our own food… in the city.
